Mello expected the road to be long when he left Wammy's with his best friend Matt at 15. Becoming L by finding his killer, the greatest serial killer to ever live, was an impossible task from the beginning. Through all odds, though, they built an empire in 5 years and beat the monster in a single, well executed plan. At least they thought so, until a helmitted stranger arrives and declares that they are the key to identifying Kira altogether.
In their turmoil, after their base is attacked and Mello is permanently scarred, they take this stranger up on their offer and agree to investigate their lead that Light Yagami is Kira. All seems to be going well until they learn the identity of their anonymous, self-proclaimed dog, and find out her true intentions for seeking them out over Near and her own self-righteous justice.
Can Matt and Mello learn to live with loving the same woman? Can she prevent the end that will come when Matt's unusually short lifespan is up? Will Mello make the decision to allow her to be the one to end Kira, once and for all?
