Seventy-five years ago, the lights all over the world went out. And when they came back on, people with mind powers came forward to rule the former United States. Other countries figured out how to work with these people. But, in the new country of Avalon, those with powers were in power. Beatrix belongs to a group of rebels who want to over-throw the government. But, as Beatrix's responsibilities grow, it becomes apparent that one group just wants to take over for the other. People panicked and tried to survive for as long as they could. Some made it out of cities the others stayed. Our government fell and militias took control. The Monroe militia took over. Then one day he found electricity again. He used it for bad and soon conquered the whole world. Years later our world now runs on electricity again. The Monroe militia is still in power and they force teens to go into an academy to train as merciless killers. This is where I go. One question I always have in mind is, In a world where hope is the only thing we have, Can love exist in the middle of all this war?
