Jack Murdock had cheated on her. End of story. Alanna didn't need any proof, she had seen everything. Well almost everything. Ok, maybe she saw something suspicious and she jumped to conclusions. But that doesn't matter, she saw what she saw. Sure, they had been madly in love for three years; the inseparable couple. And yes, she loved watching him work on his father's ranch. But when she saw him behind a dumpster holding Carmella Santini, the high school cheerleading captain, in a very tight embrace while kissing her repeatedly on the cheek, yes, she did indeed jump to conclusions.
After promptly confronting Jack and breaking up with him when he couldn't give her a straight answer, Alanna left her small Nashville home and moved to New York. She went to college in the city and met Jeremy Carlyle, an aspiring lawyer who, "fell in love with her the moment he laid eyes on her." The two formed a picture-perfect relationship. Jeremy helped Alanna get her dream job as a writer/photographer for a magazine called, "Home & Life". The two of them were making a decent living, and Jeremy even decided to propose to her. She hadn't seen or heard from Jack in almost eight years. But who cared? She was over him and more importantly, she was happy with her life now.
Or was she?
Jeremy was now one of the most well-known real-estate attorneys in the U.S. He traveled the country helping people buy and sell their property. So when Fred Murdock, Jack's father, calls, Jeremy happily takes on the job and Alanna's boss seizes the opportunity to send her with Jeremy to photograph the ranch for a new Southern Style addition of the magazine.
Reluctantly, Alanna agrees to go. She tells herself that she no longer has feelings for Jack and there is no way she could love someone who obviously never loved her. But when old feelings are unearthed and secrets come out, she begins to question every decision she's ever made.
He recalls them being what? Fourteen, fifteen? He remembers how he kissed Jack on his bed. From there on out, they were all over each other. If he remembers correctly, it was Jack who asked if he could experiment with him. Poor thing was so shy at first. Their hands trembled as they, together, ventured into their little own world. They were each other's first everything. Things only developed into less... vanilla grounds when Jack asked for it. It opened a whole new world for them.
Zach managed to have him wrapped around his finger for so long before this... lousy bride entered their lives. There was something about her that drew Jack to her. Something he was yet to discover.
He tunes back as Jack dips her to seal their matrimony. He claps for them and smiles. He cheers for them, despite knowing damn well that it's him Jack truly wants.
Zach takes plenty of pictures with the newlyweds, with the bride especially. He's one of her best friends, after all.
