[Book 1 Of The Heartbeat Chronicles]

"No amount of standing on hilltops on dark nights and surveying the heavens could prepare a man for the actuality of space travel, because the earthbound observer saw only the stars, not what separated them. They glittered in his vision, filling his eyes, and he had no choice but to assign them a position of importance in the cosmic scheme. The space traveler saw things differently. He was made aware that the universe consisted of emptiness, that the suns and nebulae were almost an irrelevancy, that the stars were nothing more than a whiff of gas diffusing into infinity. And sooner or later that knowledge began to hurt." - Bob Shaw, Ship of Strangers

Ash Maddox has always been a normal 15-year-old girl in the year 2236 from Old New York City. Well, except that she has no mother and a 29-year-old father who got stranded on a moon in another solar system far away, but that's another story for another time. She goes to public school, has friends, enemies too and she does all the normal teenage girl things.
But one day her father, Taylor, was assigned on his first official mission into space and Ash doesn't want to risk losing her only parent so she plots out to prevent him from going. But instead of preventing him from going she accidentally ends up getting dragged along for the ride. She doesn't have a single fear about the voyage until things take a turn for the worst and she ends up stranded on a planet alone with her father.
Ash doesn't think she has any connections with this new planet at all, or that it would have any importance to anything. Little did she know that this planet contained everything that had to do with her, it was just a matter of time until she found out all its secrets and everything this new planet had to offer. The only challenge she faced: Not dying.

[BOOK TWO] "Anniversaries to some are like counting the years spent doing something great, years spent together, or years spent alive." I started slowly, voice dropping to a drawl as I peeked cautiously out of my bedroom blinds, scanning the road to see if there was a cloaked figure watching my every movement. "I view anniversaries as counting down the days till death finds me." *** After the events of her wonderfully packed 21st birthday, Addison was ready to retire back into her home and never again see the light of day. It wasn't a totally bad idea. After all, her family's generations-old riches was enough to tide her over until the day her past finally catches on, and until that day finally arrives, she had no intention to step out of her front door. And to think the last time she did, she ended up in the game of cat and mouse with a cynical hooded spirit that wanted her dead and her soul in a glass bottle for his own little sadistic collection. Silence had followed the whole year after the disastrous party. For nearly 365 days, Addison had no trouble with unwanted evil celestial beings lurking around her house in an attempt to take her soul away with a world-stopping kiss. However, the silence was too often, and the world had become too quiet. Reason being? Apparently, Death's new move was to kidnap her best friend Minnie Hoover in an attempt to bait her down to hell itself. Life became much quieter without one-third of her little clique. And so Addison ventured away from the safety of her home, in search of her best friend. After all, silence creeps the heart just as death does, and the world was now deadly silent. ***** Highest Rank Fantasy: #9 Highest Rank Teen Fiction: #77

A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy. *editing while I write, but still legible I swear to the moon and back* Oh dear, whatever will cute little Phoebe do, when big bad meanies are in every dark alleyway corner, preying on her tiny body like the predators they are. She'll shove them through a wall and break their limbs...that's exactly what she'll do. Four year old orphaned Phoebe is force sensitive, a strong one yet she doesn't know it, she just believes she has super powers. She's always running and hiding, stowing away on whatever ship she deems safe enough and jumping from planet to planet, in search of what? She doesn't really know. However, bigger, badder meanies find her out and they know how to professionally catch their prey. How will little Phoebe be treated? Will she ever find what shes looking for? Will she not only break limbs, but dark empty hearts? * I don't own the Star Wars franchise, pictures, songs, books mentioned. They are purely suggestions for the storyline. ** Thomas Mason colored the cover art. The comic creator who uses the uncolored version for 'The Rise of Kylo Ren' is named Charles Soule. I couldn't find or figure out if it was one of these same guys who actually drew it, it's the cover of a comic book. *** This is purely just Fan fiction and not to be taken seriously or be fully related to real world problems. **** This is a platonic relationship, Phoebe is 4 (pretty obvious), and I just love grown men being sweet and fatherly towards small humans. ***** There will be foul language, mentions of child abuse, unhealthy habits, and mental issues. Drama and angst in all it's glory, please be mature about it. ****** From writer to writer, no one likes their hardwork being taken for somebody elses personal gain, it's abominable, scummy, dishonest, and there is no honor in it what so ever. Karma is a bee-otch. Anyways, I hope ya enjoy this cute thing I whipped up. Comment, vote, whatever, just be respectful and treat others how you wanna be treated. :D

What will you do, when you have only 5 days left, before a dead-or-alive challenge happens? Rebecca is having a highly risky brain surgery next week. Time is extremely precious for her. Yet she chooses to finish reading a book, which is unfortunately mine. I am a failing writer whose stories go nowhere. There are still two more chapters to write for this book, but I am having a writer's block. I visit her in the hospital, and greatly inspired by her courage under the unfortunate circumstances. However, can I finish the book in time for her? I'll try my best. Once again, my mind flies back to the post-apocalypse world of my fiction, searching for a way to end the book properly... ...... This is an attempt to mix comedy with tragedy. Some content is quite heavy, like cancer, depression, sick patients...etc. So prepare a tissue, just in case. I wrote and posted the first 3 chapters 4 years ago, yet due to my stupidity and insensitivity, I lost a dear friend over this story, which I regretted deeply. The idea was first inspired by another friend, who gave me some first hand experience of a cancer patient. Can't thank her enough. It's totally my fault that this story was delayed for so long. It's simply too good to waste, and not fair for her priceless contribution. There are also various things inspired by different friends online, who once bared their souls to me. Sincerely appreciate their friendship. It has totally 8 chapters. Each one has about 2000 to 3000 words. Disclaimer: Everything here is fake, never happened and completely fabricated by my wild imagination. The story has nothing to do with Wattpad or any website, because seriously, nothing is real here. If someone happens to have a similar experience, that's just coincidence. Copyrights of Becca Franco, Bill Cadogan and "The 100" TV series belongs to The CW Network.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
