Safety is too often temporary. With the townspeople protected behind tall walls and trained soldiers, Isaac and his new companions can turn their attention to other matters. But their world is pierced most harshly- when Jemain is present for a brutal ambush that leaves almost as many questions, as it does dead warriors.

Safety is too often temporary.
Isaac, Maria, Hart and Jemain all thought their lives would be much less eventful having seen off the elvish raiders, but it seems their world is not as solid, nor as safe as they had first thought. Without realising each and every one of them falls into a fight for their lives, with support far away it comes down to ingenuity and bravery, things some wield easily when their lives are threatened.
In the second installment of the Novella series 'The Blackthorn Chronicles', the group see Isaac as less of a priest, and more of a warrior; whilst Hart proves his status and all the warriors are faced with a new, questionable ally.

Trials of Gideon Book 1: The Cursed Blade by kullman
17 parts Complete
Gideon Saint is usually in trouble. It's his pastime to get involved in epic quests throughout history, namely the Middle Ages. Once again, he's run afoul of the Templars, and ancient organization of Wizards. This time, they are offering him the chance to right old wrongs, by retrieving a mysterious cursed blade. 1403 awaits. Sequel Series to Last Knights of Cambia series, and the Days of the Dead trilogy, ergo it contains spoilers for those. Similar narrative style and tone, that is if you want English history explained like Lemony Snicket, then this is for you. Ahem. Living people die, dead people live. Swords. Epic Battles. Mysterious riddles. Coded messages. True love. Traitors. Murder. Found families. Yes, Henry V is here and he is awesome. Did we mention swords? Tombs are described in loving detail. People are not. Yes you may learn something about the battle of Shrewsberry but that's a risk you're going to have to take. Content/Trigger Warning: A battle is depicted at length, relatively graphic blood/gore associated with that. A character is injured severely and must twice undergo surgery on page, this is fairly graphic and may be disturbing to some readers. Brief innuendo. Some brief strong language. Some mild sexuality. Catholicism is discussed. All disturbing scenes are usually forewarned, that is it's clear what is going to happen. Some brief peril. Some light disturbing humor relating to murder. PG-13 quality stuff, be aware of your mental state and seek support as needed.

Damsels aren't supposed to wield swords, especially ancient swords that will have the blood of thousands spilled across it. ✵✵✵✵✵ Deep in the mountains of Cambria, there lives a legendary queen of unparalleled beauty, benevolence and brutality. She seeks only to avenge her family, but it is easier said than done. She must travel far into the formidable lands of Northumbria to find the king who killed her father. With the help of an assassin turned friend, queen Una sees that nothing can get in her way, except a secret that will shatter her reality forever. ✵✵✵✵✵ EXCERPT ✵✵✵✵✵ "I can understand what it must be like for you, trapped in the walls of the north mountains. While Christian Bryttania grew, your pagan roots began to rot as your people lay waste to the invasions of the Danes and Vikings. A millennia ago, most lived and died within the short distance of which they were born. Their existence was bounded by the wilderness in the unyielding darkness of ancient woods, by the ice shown peaks of impenetrable mountains. This old truth is your reality, is it not?" ✵✵✵✵ WARNING CONTAINS ✵✵✵✵ Disturbing Images Strong Sexual Content Strong Violence Pervasive Language ✵✵✵✵✵✵ Word Count ✵✵✵✵✵✵ Number of words: 191,554 Number of pages in book: 734
