In the 200 a.a., Persia is on the warpath to conquer the continent of Greece. Attacking only one state at a time, it has conquered most of the Greecian States. In fact, it was just finishing up its conquest of Athens.
Sparta had believed Persia was content with what it had, that Persia wasn't stupid enough to attack Sparta. It had been wrong. Persia tried to take them with the same strategy that they had taken the other weak Greecian States. Stopping the Persians in their tracks, Sparta began moving its horrifying military force against them. The resistance from the conquered States began to flood to the Spartans. War was upon them, and the Spartans were confident they would win for no one was as strong as Sparta.
