When Kat Blake travels to the Scottish Orkney islands to visit her grandmother she never expects to find herself in the middle of a turfwar between two ancient species: the werewolves and the vampires. 

Kat finds herself mysteriously drawn to the popular and charming Avon Locke, who is the leader of the Orcadian werewolves, but on the other hand there is the alluring Carter, an ancient vampire desperate to preserve his own history with the island. 

The time has come once more for the vampires and werewolves to battle it out for ownership of the islands and neither Avon nor Carter are about to give up. But soon both men find they have something important in common to protect: Kat Blake, whose own ancestry might be the answer in bringing peace between the two species and whose own safety is about to be compromised by a new threat that comes to the island.
