It's been a long-known tradition that once a wolf turns 18, he goes out and travels in search of his mate. All wolves except for Damien- ruler of the kingdom of Skjöldolfr and King of the wolves. He never had the desire, nor the time to search for his mate. His father had fallen ill when he was 17, forcing him to take the thrown much sooner than expected.

But after centuries of delving himself into helping his people, he was tired of being alone, always daydreaming of his mate. His mother had decided to ease him into searching, by throwing a Ball for him. On this night, Alphas from all over the world bring one of their daughters, as she had hoped the search would be easy, and one of the Alpha's daughters would be his mate.

And she was right- but the girl wasn't a wolf like everyone else.
