" I could feel a rush in my blood as I ran through the base to find some way to escape. Whether it was the adrenaline pumping through my veins or the lack of sleep in the past 48 hours, I didn't know, all I knew was to get out. To get away from the monster that had killed so many, but had taken me. I felt guilty for the death of a whole village and I being the sole survivor, when I just as well deserved to be lying on the ground with the rest of them.
I continued around a corner avoiding the ranks of Stormtroopers passing from time to time, and then I saw it, the landing strip where all First Order ships came and left the base. I planned my run from my current location to the TIE fighter in front of me, I would be way out there and noticed quickly, so it would have to be fast.
I took a deep breath and ran, but before I could even make it halfway, I ran straight into the one person I was trying to escape from. The one and only, Kylo Ren. "

In order for the mission to succeed, Rey has to do something she never imagined herself doing. Based on Star Wars ep. VII: The Force Awakens. "You... you're afraid." I say looking back at him defyingly. "That you'll never be as strong as Darth Vader." I say his hand moving away from me instantly and he takes a step back finally my body gets released from his hold. I notice the expression from his face breaking completely, he is confused even rattled. I breathe heavily and keep staring back at him proud of myself as he picks up his mask and exits the room leaving me tied up to the interrogation chair. How was I able to do all of that? ------ This book is part 1 of my rewrite series. I figured that if If I wanted to rewrite TLJ and TROS the only correct way would be by also doing TFA so here is that. Also, this book is going to be very similar to the movie to a point where it is almost identical but since it's written with different points of views we get to know more about the characters and where they come from. It is very canon compliant especially when talking about the different character backstories. That being said, this doesn't mean that the next two books are going to be the exact same as the movies I want to take the other books in a completely different way. But can the two of them overcome their differences and mistrust of each other to accomplish that task or will pride win out? And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest. Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version. Then Rey felt herself fall into a deep, un-peaceful, and dark sleep. Kylo Ren slowly glided away from her unconscious form. A tear, although invisible from the rest of the universe underneath his mask, fell down his cheek. Kylo Ren left the scene of the massacre, where he had just murdered dozens of former fellow Jedi padawans, at the academy his uncle had established. He didn't look back, for he knew that if he did, he would totally break...he would be torn apart. Please note that this story STARTS in the time while Kylo Ren/Ben is at the Jedi Academy and that this story was written directly after The Force Awakens! It does not include ANY of TLJ or TROS canon, please be aware of this as you read. Also I wrote this like 3 or 4 years ago, excuse my grammar mistakes. Yes, I know they're there. ❝He didn't say anything, just stared. A malicious glint came to his eyes. "Rey, I did not think you could be this foolish. I am years older than you, physically and mentally. How could I ever fall for a Jedi? I am stronger that that." This was what he reiterated in his head every day, every second he thought about her. But she was right indeed. He did like her. It seemed like an understatement almost. He needed her. Every second that Rey wasn't with him felt like torture. He couldn't let her know that. He also desperately clung to the darkness. His darkness was what fueled him and what kept him going. He couldn't possibly give that up. The girl was a conundrum. "Liar," Rey whispered. She crossed the distance between them. Now, they were only a few inches apart, separated by the bars of the cell. "You're right," he smiled. Yet again, it didn't reach his eyes. Rey was right. He could barely stand to be someone he wasn't. But his past called for him. "I am a liar. A manipulative beast." He reached out and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "You would do well to stay away." She stepped back. She had felt a jolt of something when he touched her. Like she was being set on fire, but she loved it. "St- Stay away from me," she stuttered.
