It explores the trapped marriages of the world, where systems, families, social opinion, and the consequences they put on the victim for leaving. It explains how the court systems can be used to try to control and punish someone, but in turn, how they can protect. The complications of courts between two countries' systems. The systems that help, refuge, counselling, and support. Ari has to fight her way through two court systems without spiralling. The positive relationships in the main characters' lives, how sometimes friends and family don't understand, however kindness and humour help. Also, mothers can be made to feel guilty at many different points for different reasons, even when it's over something that isn't the mothers fault.
