I checked her neck with nervous eyes and a worried expression. One bite could change everything. Just one. I prayed that the bite wasn't in the neck. My prayers weren't answered, seeing the teeth marks embedded into her flesh upon her neck.

"Why, what happened!?" She begged to me with tears leaving her eyes.

"You're okay, just-" I started as she cut me off.

An angry growl escaped my throat as my vision blurred. My wolf is taking control, and it's the bad one. She bit at me, growling and slashing, making me weak. I had to take a knee. But a rogue jumped in, taking my neck in its mouth and slamming me to the ground. I screamed as it bit down harder. It yelped. Looking up, Zander was on top, clawing at the rogue. He bit down, again and again, ripping chunks of skin off as loose hairs flew around. Let me out! "Ah!" I cried, "no, not like this!" I let out a scream just as my hands concaved the side of its head in until I felt my fingers touch. I ask knowing I'm testing his patience but he is obviously boss here and I want answers. "My pack." He answers "your injuries?" I dont know how to answer that so I turn away from him. I dont know what hurt me only the marks it left. "Answer ME!" His words make me stiffen and I feel my hands reach for the bottom of my shirt. I slide it off and turn to the man. A stand there chest exposed. I'm boney from lack of food and bruised from my foster father and brother. Amid all the fresh brusing three white lines stand out stretching from my shoulder to my hip. "This is what they were healing!" I yell trying not to cry. I remember the pain of the marks when they were fresh. Feeling embarrassed I put my shirt back on. "Rouges." The man whispers. "Those bruses." Ruby says from behind me. "The "Love" of my "family."" I tell her. "My turn." I say and the man turns back to me as he was facing the other adults. He raises his eyebrow and I take it as permission to continue. "What are rouges?" "Packless werewolves." He says. My jaw drops. werewolves? WEREWOLVES!? What the? "They are just a story." I say. "You know better than that." He says.

I finally escaped the factory, they kidnapped me from my college. Today is my birthday, and I had planned for it but nothing helped, only calming me down for the moment. A scream echoed out in the silent starry sky, my body freezing... They were looking for me, I just knew it. Tears springing to my eyes and brushing the tears away, slowly getting back to normal. Suddenly, I felt someone behind me. I could feel its strength and power surround me, turning around to see a dark figure behind me. Glowing blue eyes stared at me, seeing it slowly walk toward me. My breathing becoming short again, a panic attack was on the verge. A hand was now on my shoulder and another on my cold cheek, making me look into his eyes, "Let me help you..." He whispered. Rubbing his thumb against my cheek, I slowly nod my head, when a pain began to form in my chest. I knew it was coming. I quickly get away, crawling a couple feet away. "Get away!" I yelled. My skin turning white and the pain erupting inside of me, feeling it try to escape, and I know if I let it. It will hurt this man. Suddenly, he was there in my view. Blue eyes staring at me, and then his lips were on my own. Gasping as I felt the pain beginning to disappear from inside me. Eyes drooping and my body relaxing against his. Soon, the kiss ended and I was empty. My eyes closing. "Don't worry, I will keep you safe..."

"Yes, why not? He gets to live forever, never gets cold, is super fast, and reads minds." "Mmf, not to quote Jacob, but I am alive. I have heat, primal instincts, and I prefer to live fully rather than live forever." Primal instincts, I wonder what all of that could entail. Why do I find that more attractive than scary? "The heat could help," I admit as I pull the jacket closer to my body. He smirks, but there's a flicker of something darker in his eyes. "So you'd rather cuddle with a corpse than burn with a beast?"
