In a world where everything is in black in white until you find your soulmate/your other half, Jessica Anderson finds herself struggling to find love (quite literally.).  Her friends have found luck within the world. One having found her soulmate while taking a drive around town, the other waking up one morning with a black tattoo of someone else's initials on her left wrist, finding him through quickly reacting social media. All Jessica has to show is the black tattoo on her right wrist and the slightly lifted gray-scale. Dull colors are all she sees, and even the beautiful flowers she works around can't lift the quickly dwindling hope that's still within her.All Rights Reserved

Soul mate tattoos, quite the phenomenon no one will ever completely get. Many scientists and historians have tried creating theories to solve it, but none have been successful. Many give up, or accept the fact it is a mystery that may not be solved. What is a soul mate tattoo, you may ask? Well, it's a tattoo that is completely permanent and painless. You see, it's a tattoo that shows up on your right wrist, anytime between ages thirteen and fifteen, though, rarely, it may show up as late as your eighteenth birthday. It says your soul mate's first name and last initial. No further information. Some people wait their entire lives to find their mate. Some die without ever knowing. Some marry people who aren't their soul mates, so they aren't alone forever. Some search forever, looking at everyone's wrists. Others don't care enough, covering their tattoo with a watch or bracelet. Reagan Troy-Paige got her tattoo abnormally early in life. She was almost ten years old when it had shown up. She had been putting on a bracelet, when she saw the curvy writing on her wrist. 'Louis A.' That day, and the rest of the year, the young child was the most envied girl at her school, getting her tattoo before people three, four, even five grades ahead. In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. Everybody has a tattoo; they could be absolutely anywhere on your body. The tattoo begins appearing on the person's sixteenth birthday. Nobody has the same tattoo as they reflected the person's personality. They could be similar, but they are never duplicated. Depending on the person's soulmates mood, the colour of the tattoo changes. When they're mad, it turns a mix of deep red and orange, when they are embarrassed it changes to a bright yellow, when they are upset it turns blue, when they are feeling lonely it turns purple and so on. The only time the tattoo will light up and turn white is when the person and their soulmate are in a thirty foot radius and when you lock eyes with your soulmate, it begins to heat up. That's when you know you've finally found them.
