Harry, Hermione and Ron come up against an entity no one has dealt with before, but the Hogwart teachers and staff are all too familiar with the story.

In the late 16th Century, a woman was burned at the stake for witchcraft, but in a twist of horror, she turned on the crowd, condemning them to death and holding their souls hostage until revenge was hers.

She cast her dreaded powers onto the Hogwart School, locking it down from all outside influences, until her quest was complete, but the school was not prepared, and it looked as if all inhabitants sealed inside the castle walls were doomed.
