What if the Cold War never ended?

After 45 years of a fight over power, The United States and the Soviet Union come to a armistice and none make contact until August 23, 2014 where the sirens rang and children hid under their desks while Soviet warheads hit American soil. Mushroom clouds rise and major cities become nothing but junkyards or ash. Radiation poisons most of the United States and Soviet Union soil as trees become gray, lifeless objects and water becomes death for anyone. 300 years later groups build and form settlements and fight for control and supplies. Philip aka Rust a teenager who lives outside Philadelphia in what was New Jersey has become nothing but dead forest's and town's completely destroyed. Rust must learn how to survive in this new world and to fight for what is his. He must make a name for himself and actually become something in what use to be the United States but now only a wasteland.
