Fifteen year old Alina Thompson has been given the chance to stay at her dad's house in a sleepy, suburban town in Pennsylvania for a year. She's not exactly ecstatic for the change of scenery, from her beach-bum life in the oceanic Isle of Wight. She hasn't seen her dad in two years; ever since he abandoned her, her little sister, and mother who was dying of terminal cancer. However, when problems have stirred up at home, she's more than happy to jump on a plane and fly across the ocean to live with her dad. But Alina knows running away from her problems won't solve anything, and after all, you never know what you have until it's gone.
