Tara Orion has no idea how she ended up so far from home.

But she's not alone.

At least the inhabitants of the strange planet she wakes up on are friendly. The Espre take her in and treat her like one of their own.

Not only that, but they're her only hope of a way home.

Lekyn-Faer had more than enough to deal with before Tara dropped (literally) into her life. She is her clan's Chisi, gifted with unique abilities that mark her as a leader for her people.

It's these unique powers that form the bond between her and Tara. Promising to take the human girl to the Clansmeet to speak to the Frea, her people's god, is one thing. It is quite another to actually do it.

Her clan was exiled generations ago from the Clansmeet for a crime her ancestors committed. In order to help Tara, she'll have to convince not only the descendants of the clans that exiled hers, but the goddess herself that the sins of their fathers should be forgiven.

And that's only if the clan can manage to get that far. There miles of swampland and enemy territory between their clan's hunting grounds and the Clansmeet.

Nobody ever said doing the right thing was easy...

As Tara struggles to learn to speak and act properly in Espre society, Faer must try to comprehend a world that is so much bigger than she ever imagined and a family that could be more than it ever was before.

And both will have to reexamine every preconception they had about what it means to be friends, family, and 'human'.
