All they really care about is,
A- Money
B-Money
C-Money

So when their multi-elemental daughter burns down an entire High school it isn't exactly good publicity for there multi billion dollar company. So what do you do? Obviously send her of to E.A.M.

There are 4 types of elementals, Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Most only claim one, but Alex Winters was given the so called 'gift' of all four. Having people constantly trying to assassinate her isn't exactly a gift in her eyes. 
So she's sent into witness protection with a new name, new hair new identity. Sent into the E.A.M (aka Elemental Anger Management. ) Since burning down an entire High School is  considered irrational. 

She was given strict orders; stay out of trouble. Keep any unnecessary attention of her. Well that went out the door when Alex tried to burn the 'bad boy' of  E.A.M to a crisp.
