In Shibuya, Japan, there is a game that certain people of the dead play that none of the living can see, though it is played around them. With the cost of an entry fee, which is the thing you hold dearest to you, you play for a chance at living again. It is held by reapers who summon Noise, which are creatures biased on real animals sent to take out the many players of this game in one week. The players of this game must make a pact with a partner and slay the Noise to stay alive for their chance at a new life. For Galaxy, one of the newer players, this seems like an impossible task, until she becomes partners with Atmos, a headstrong, not that talkative boy who seems to hate Galaxy. Will they put aside their differences and fight together for a new life? Or will they be doomed to erasure by the mysterious Reapers and their Noise?

No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Maybe it was an excuse for overpopulation. xx-xx Karma has been trying to survive for over a year, but it's difficult when X's, mechanical killing machines, roam the streets, hungry for human flesh. Every day that passes by without finding a portal brings the morale lower. They need to escape the country before they all end up dead. It doesn't help that the X's have changed their tactics and are now manipulating people to commit suicide.
