His skin smelled of crushed grass and cheap hotel soap masking the salty-sweetness of his skin after a long practice. I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck, burying my face in the worn, ancient cotton of his Bainbridge Soccer t-shirt. The material smelled sweet, like stale cologne and churned-up dirt from the field. He wrapped his arms around me and planted a kiss on my rain-dampened head before resting his chin on my hair. I leaned into his embrace, my arms tucked up in between our bodies, soaking up his comforting warmth. I closed my eyes. The air was thick and heavy with a storm, the atmosphere hanging around our ears. The rain had already started trickling down but it would no doubt come pouring down at any moment. A continuous, chilly breeze cut through the ample space of my sweatshirt and bit through the stifling air. "I missed you," I breathed, cheek resting on his chest. "I missed you too." I felt the vibration of his voice all the way through my body, it was so strong and reassuring. The fuzzy rumble of thunder snarled in the distance, followed by another blinding flash of lightning. "Spencer! Ryan! You two coming or do we need to book you a room?" "Shut up, Jake." I pulled away from Ryan and pat his chest awkwardly. He laughed and grabbed my hand, small in his own. He swung my arm back and forth as we walked over to the huddle of people doing their best to stand against the rain. Excerpt from 'Cool Kids' chapter one, Cliques & Soccer Cleats (note: I will fix the cover later)

I scooted a little closer to him and tilted my head a little, curious to know what his response would be. "Um well we could uh talk about our lives you know, school and family and friends and other stuff like that." "And do you really want to do that?" I asked him running a finger down his white t-shirt after closing the small distance between us. "Do you really want to just sit and talk about family," I leaned over to whisper in his ear, "and friends," I lightly nipped his earlobe while continuously running my finger down his shirt until I reached the waistline of his black jeans, "and school," I was just about to trace my finger over his zipper when he gripped my hand and looked me in the eye just as I finished saying, "and other stuff like that." I looked up from our hands to his green eyes, taking in the blueish specks of his irises, with a hint of hazel mixed, surrounding his pupil. We stared at each other for a minute, me admiring how close his proximity is and how the tingly sensation of his hand on mine felt good. "No I don't." Dominic groaned out, looking down at my lips and then back up at me. "No you don't what?" I leaned in a little, suddenly feeling drawn in to his green eyes and awaiting lips. ------ Ryler didn't expect to fall for him so soon. It only took her 2 days for her to realize how much she truly cares for him. Only 2 days for her to also realize it was a mistake. Only 2 days for her to feel heartbroken.
