Spreading Sunshine

When Penelope Mathews, a bubbly and optimistic young lady from a small village in the Caribbean journeys to Starlight City to further her education in forensic science, she is bombarded with a series of hurdles to cross. One of which is Vincent Carter, who she tries to revert to his old self after a devastating incident concerning the loss of his father changed him forever. In her effort to help Vincent overcome his grief, she too is suffering with her own internal battles. Such a task isn't easy business especially when Vincent refuses to trust her and doubts her every move, believing she has ill intentions towards him and his family. Being the ray of sunshine that she is, Penelope is perseverant and determined to make him smile despite the snide remarks he hurls at her almost every single day because that was just the type of person she was. Always considerate and a bit queer, she loved to see people happy and enjoying life to the fullest because any day could be her last.

Although being independent was something she aspired to, along the way Penelope is faced with the challenges of living on her own and fighting her battles without her family. But little does she know that in leaving one family behind, she gains another.

During her trip, she is forced to face her deepest fears and finally come to terms with her financial status, or lack thereof. After being accustomed to having only what is needed, she discovers wants, which for her, is a new side of the world. She has a hard time accepting the wealth thrown at her but never forgets where she comes from and the values her parents instilled in her.
