Troye was abused by Aaron. The man he once loved. Not only was he abused by him but once Aaron found out Troye was seeing somebody else, he beat them. Both of them. Leaving Troye nearly dead and David, the person Troye is still in love with, dead. 

That was a year ago today. Troye hasn't let himself get close to anyone since then in fear that Aaron will find out and come back for him. For them. Even now he still feared him. Even though he hadn't seen him for a whole year. He hasn't seen him since that night. 

To help him forget his fears he goes to the bar that his friend, Marcus, owns. Marcus knows all about Troye's past, he knew it was happening at the time and tried to convince Troye to report Aaron to the cops. But Troye refused. It was no surprise that to him that Troye was at the bar extra early that day.
