King Aerys Targaryen is loosing power. His paranoia is reaching its height and insanity clouds his mind. His son, the Dragon Prince Rhaegar, has just watched his Dornish wife Elia Martell given him his second child, but the birth took its toll and she is now too frail to provide him with a third- but the dragon must have three heads.
In the North the Starks are preparing for their journey South and Lord Rickard's only daughter, Lyanna, believes she's travelling to meet with her betrothed, Robert Baratheon, though the event's ending creates an irrevocable change to Westeros' history.
Treason is brewing in the Seven Kiingdoms and honour, family, and promises seem to be at its heart.
