Ean, a young Healer's apprentice in the secluded village of Rottwealth, is the village pariah. Doing his best to live up to the reputation, Ean often finds himself in bad situations. The worst being a vicious beating given to him by the youngest son of the mayor and his friends. But when the village is threatened by the invasion of a monster, Ean escapes his life as he is dragged along in a quest to find a way to battle this new threat. Getting his wish to finally leave the village, even if not in the way he wants, Ean discovers a world much larger and more complicated then he ever could have imagined. Unfortunately, he also carries a secret that the majority of the world would rather did not exist. For Ean has a connection to the Abyss, a place created by a dark god that is full of beasts and monsters. Monsters that Ean is slowly learning how to summon into his own world. But with a connection to a taboo god and a power he barely understands, can Ean fit into the world outside of his secluded village? Or will the stigma that has been placed on him since birth follow him the rest of his life.

These first five chapters introduce you to the main character and his companion Zin, and show why Ean leaves his village and sets off into the world

Strands of your mind cling together like web to a slippery leaf bathed in the morning dew. You have seen both heaven and hell, witnessed the atrocities of war firsthand, and imagined a better life in the deepest, most intimate corners of your dreaming spirit. The wishes for peace and certainty you have once so desperately longed for, now lay trampled underneath the might of your mind's vivid horrors. What was once so bright and lively, now cowers in fear, clinging to gone memories like a shipwreck survivor to some lowly piece of driftwood. From the depths of hell, you arrived victorious, grasping the laurel wreath high above your head. Unrecognizable, with your empty eyes telling a story of innocence brutally taken away from the child curling in shame in the depths of your empty soul. Almost green you are, curly head, having grown up with a rifle by your bedside table, never knowing peace and quiet. Out of the pan that was the Kazdel Civil War and into the scorching flames of Lungmen, where life flows by on its own accord, here, you must learn to live once more. So put on your best facade, Let the reuniting trumpets ring a wild, And allow the city to swallow you whole. Here we are, a continuation of my previous work "Goodbye Curly Head", which sprawled into quite the epistle (but it wasn't really a letter, it's just long :P). Summarized in the most basic way possible, it's a story about a twenty-year-old Kazdel Civil War veteran who goes to Lungmen and has some troubles acclimating to the steady life presented before him. Sprinkle in a too-good-to-be-true offer and a freshly established logistics company, and you get Andy trying to make it big for as long as his deteriorating mental state lets him. I'd say it works as a standalone story for anyone who doesn't want to bother reading the first part. For now, at least. As always, please, pwwease leave a comment, positive, negative, I LOOOVE reading and replying to comments!!
Gryffynhall (the Danu Cycle: Fiann Trilogy Book 1) by writeriz
37 parts Complete
Only three things matter to all good fey; fighting, festivities and fornication. Eamon mac Aeveen is the youngest child of the king of the fey. With twenty-nine older siblings, Eamon's always allowed himself to indulge to excess even by fey standards. His fiann are the only ones he lets near, and even then they're at arm's length. But, he has earnt the fierce loyalty of his eight fighters and they are the only ones for whom he would lay down his immortal life. Their oath is strong and their bond stronger as they stalk Tir nAill and Innisfail for threats to the balance. What do you do when you find out your life is half a lie? Well, one-quarter a lie, anyway. Niamh O'Callaghan was a normal girl. Or, so she thought. When a chance encounter with two strange boys finds Niamh in some perverted version of Hogwarts, she has to learn to fight, weave magic, and not fall for Killian, the boy with the brilliant blue eyes. Because fey are not like humans and there is nothing normal about falling for one. Thank Danu for Lachlan, who is more brother than friend in such a strange place. The only thing stronger than your oath... If falling for Killian wasn't worrying enough, Eamon's return to Gryffnhall throws Niamh's world upside down once more. Once a friend to her parents and still haunted by their deaths, Eamon has nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking Niamh from Killian, and he sets out to do just that using every tool in his royal fey arsenal. Niamh's determined not to give into either of them ...is the power of Her heart. But, an old evil is resurfacing and Niamh has an inheritance to claim from the king. So, Eamon and the Gryffyns are tasked with escorting Niamh and her fiann to the king. And, if they can lure out the big bad gunning for Niamh, all the better. But, travelling in close quarters stirs up trouble between Kilian and Eamon in the battle for Niamh.

Maeve's ability to touch others' souls can be heartbreaking and confusing, but when she connects with two murderers, it turns her world upside down. Are they still killers if they only kill monsters? What starts as a random attack on the street stopped by two strangers quickly escalates as Maeve discovers her attackers were demons. Thrusting her into their violent world, Maeve struggles to hold on to her humanity, making choices she never believed she would have to make. Disturbed but drawn to each of them. Will's bestial nature calls to her one moment and rejects her the next. While a powerful attachment to Ander's gentle soul comforts her, but every time they connect, she feels his darkness just below the surface. Will's entire life has been a war against monsters, alongside his best-friend Ander. Honor bound by duty, he is brutal, relentless, and uncompromising in his mission to protect the masses. He didn't understand how much his world would change after saving Maeve, or how she would shatter his convictions. Ander may have magical talents but in his mind, nothing will redeem him from the abomination he is. Bound by more than shed blood, Will, his adopted brother, and only friend. Together they seek and destroy aberrations that poison the world. Until Maeve touched his hand, there was nothing else but the mission. With her, Ander could see a different side of himself, a different life. This is a character driven story written from the 3 main characters POV's. It's a mature adult dark romance & contains dubious triggering situations that some might find offensive. If you want an instant, fearless heroine, Maeve won't be it. Her story is discovering who she is & what power love can bring versus kicking monsters asses. Power & money aren't the only things that make the world turn & those that wield the greatest power control destiny. If you're looking for heroes, Will & Ander are NOT it. If you're drawn to tortured villainous souls, you'll enjoy their saga.

The outposts are one thing, fey court is another entirely. With an inherited title she didn't earn and massive shoes to fill, Niamh tries to adjust to fey court. Dwendardian's forces are bombarding the castle, demanding Niamh's head for their leader. The harder she trains, the less adequate she feels, not in the least when her growing power only seems to be present when Eamon's annoying her. There is very little difference between love, lust and obsession. But, there is more than looming threats to the safety of all realms; the king's sons are caught in their own games and aren't averse to getting someone killed. While Eamon reminds himself his feelings for Niamh go no further than a simple fey obsession, he is still involved in the tug of war for power among the king's children. Fey obsession is a dangerous thing... So, oaths are formed and relationships tested as Niamh and Eamon are forced to hide away with the hope the fey can draw the fomorians away from Elfhaven. There, their own relationship is tested as Niamh gives in to her attraction to him. ...and, Eamon's will not be the only oath broken. But, once the threat is passed and they are back among others, Eamon is cold, distant, and his oath is near broken. But, not as broken as Killian, who senses the connection now forged between Eamon and Niamh. In faery, friend and foe hangs on a single whim. As Niamh continues to learn more about her fey heritage, she will come to see that there are many layers to the fey psyche. And, while she's slowly shedding some humanity and becoming one of them, she's only barely scratched the surface.
