A sound sundered the air. It was Sasha, a howl for danger and a scream of battle. At that moment all hell broke loose. Like a tidal wave, a greater shriek overpowered Sasha's howl. The screech of aircraft shattered the normal ambient noise and the whistle of falling bombs added to it. Cluster bombs began to fall through the air like metal snow. Striking and rupturing much more than the stone buildings, the detonating bombs added bone, flesh, and wood to the list of destruction. Then, it was silent for an eerie split second before the screams of the crowd materialized and the bombing began again. "Mount up!" Thomas yelled, leaping onto his horse. Zaree beside him put away her new bow and in one graceful motion mounted her own skittish animal. Thomas checked to make sure everyone was mounted and together, and then put his heels to his horse. Simon wasn't back yet, but he knew where to go. Windows shattered outward; Thomas felt a sting on his forehead, and his horse lost footing and toppled sideward, crashing against a building wall. The horse almost went down, but Sasha and Simon shot out of an alley and were at his side in an instant. Sasha was barking and snapping at the horse's heels to keep it on its feet as Simon grabbed the bridle of the horse and tugged it up. Somehow they didn't go down. A daring move, they were lucky that they both weren't killed. Thomas ignored the painful ache of the leg that had been sandwiched between the horse and the wall. He looked behind him. Through it all, everyone was still together, still on his or her horse. ...The Re-Evolution of Man is fast paced Sci Fi Military Novel set in a dark future.
