"And in that moment, Lila realized that this war wasn't as simple as she had once believed. There were no monsters. There were only people-people pushed too far." In a world where werewolves and hunters are locked in an endless war, Lila has been raised with a singular purpose: to hunt and destroy the creatures responsible for the death of her family. Her father, the leader of a ruthless hunting faction, has spent years training her to be a perfect soldier in the battle against the wolves. His brutality is legendary, and his methods are unforgiving. Kai, a steadfast and loyal werewolf, is one of the last survivors of his pack. After a deadly raid, he is captured by Lila and brought to her father's compound-a dark, cold fortress filled with the tools of the hunter's trade. Lila's father, a man who sees werewolves as nothing more than monsters, has no intention of simply killing Kai. Instead, he has a different plan. He wants to extract vital information from him about the whereabouts of remaining werewolf packs, and he's willing to use any means necessary to get it. The brutal interrogation begins immediately. Though Lila's father is the one carrying out the physical and psychological torment, Lila can't help but feel conflicted as she watches Kai endure. Her father's cruel tactics are designed to break his spirit, and every hour brings Kai closer to the breaking point. However, the more Lila watches, the more she sees the werewolf not as a monster but as a victim of the same brutal war she's been raised to fight.
