17 year old Naomi Janet is an outcast, a loner, and a freak. but it's not her fault. Her mom died when she was young and her dad was a drunk abusive asshole. She was 14 when it happened.... she had come into the living room to show her dad her grades. her dad became angry and started to abuse her. Naomi couldn't take it and she grabbed the closest thing she could reach. Her dad's pistol. She pointed it at him trying to scare him. She wasn't going to shoot, She didn't mean to....... Her hands were shaking too much and she accidentally shot and killed her father. Police found her crying next to her father's body with the gun still in her hand. The courts found that it was justifiable self defense. She was put in foster care after that. she has run away and been kicked out multiple times from multiple homes. And then hoping this is her final foster home before her 18th birthday she moved in with the Sawyers. She meets this boy who seems to always be happy, His name? Daniel

He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school.
