A series of short stories about country life. The Roar of the Locust King is one of these. After nuclear winds sweep through the plains of the American midwest, a young orphaned boy finds refuge in a coastal ghost town. Under siege from cannibalizing hoards, the town must decide whether to keep him and share their slender resources or let him brave the winter alone. Whether he survives the winter will depend on the kindness of strangers. However much he needs them though, it soon becomes apparent that the boy has a hidden talent that can save them all.

The Aftermath at Mount Massive
-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future. Content Warning: This fic contains blood, gore, cannibalism, a suicide attempt, mild body horror, and language. If you are sensitive to any of those things I suggest not reading. He looks for them in the forest and finds an abondoned building. However it is later known that he is not alone. With nowhere to legally go, she sits in the sheriffs office, awaiting her DNA test. To her surprise, she has a family- in fact, she had a mom, a dad, and 6 older brothers. Six! What was she to do as she moves to Italy to live with her biological family, who appeared to be the Russians rivals- the Italian mafia. Her father was the don of the goddamn Italian mafia. She stays quiet and emotionless during her time in Italy, trying to cope before she meets Nicolas Ricci- the man her family despises yet the man who took interest in her. The man she falls in love with without realizing. As her story unfolds and secrets reveal, Verity goes through an emotional rollercoaster.
