Legends have been told about Merlin for millennia. Of his accomplishments and skills. Of his destiny and goals. Of his relationship to King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. Ballads have been sung about him, stories, legends, poems, and other works of literature have been written about him. But never like this. In a future world, Albion has fallen. Darkness reigns over the land, and those who have the power to stop it are either enslaved, imprisoned, or unaware they hold such power. Rumors run rampant in the streets, whispers slip from tongue to tongue. They say the Crown Prince didn't die with the rest of his family as they were cut down before the populace. They say he escaped into a village far away, and was carefully plotting his return and revenge. They say a child was born that was impervious to Urien's mental prowess, who withstood his wrath and also escaped into the unknown. But the rumors quickly fade to legend and fable, twisted by the voice of Urien. No one can stand before the face of his terrible power--not without aid. The Prince has been hidden in a village far from the Capitol, unaware of what transpires, of who he is, or what destiny awaits him. The child also lives in the same village, and has lived with the Prince their whole lives. But when a devastating explosion rocks their world, the truth comes out, and the pair are forced on a dangerous quest, uncertain of who to trust. Will they find the allies they need to destroy Urien? Or will they fail, as yet another demonstration of the Dark Lord's terrible power?
"When Albion needs it most, Arthur will rise again". Those were the words of the Great Dragon. had told Merlin on the day he pushed his best friend's body to float on the lake of Avalon. Those were also the words that he repeated to himself every day. To believe Arthur would come back was the only thing keeping him together. He needed Arthur for he was a part of him, the other side of his coin. It was Merlin's destiny to be by his side. He would come back. And when he did, Merlin would be there. Merlin waited and waited by Avalon for Arthur to rise. The centuries passed and Merlin never left. He lived through wars, famines, catastrophe's. He saw the world change, becoming modern and violent. He saw countries that were allies fight against one another. He saw colonies fight for their independence. He saw the rise of political ideals that would kill thousand. He saw advancements in science and the beginning of technology. Merlin saw so much of the modern world. And then one day, he saw his friend again.
