Everyone wants something, and they'll stop at nothing to get it. The story takes place in Ashland, NY. Ashland is a town swarming with supernatural creatures such as; werewolves, witches, and vampires. The story's protagonist, Derek Serrano(a 595 year old vampire), is new in town and is in search of a weapon/item that can be used to undo a curse brought on to his sire-sata(woman who turned him). Not only does he have to pursue this nearly impervious quest, he must also restore the balance of a power struggle between the world's most powerful creatures.

Though Karl Dutchman is indeed 18 as he was born indeed 18 years ago. These Dutchman are indeed royals and are over 500 year of age. Sam Davidson is a 17 year old boy who moved in this small town, because of his late parents deaths. He couldn't pay off any debt that the family left from the house so he was forced to live somewhere else. The somewhere else happened to be a small town secluded of any near neighboring neighbors. This town seemed normal and he had moved into a nice cozy old wooden house with two floors, and two bedrooms.
