"ATTENTION. ATTENTION. This is the Emergency Broadcast System. This is not a drill. Repeat: This is not a drill!" *Static --- Noise* (DISTANT VOICE: This is a report from the emergency national command post in Washington. The President and his key civilian and military aides have been safely evacuated to the emergency seat of government. ) *Static --- Noise* Another voice: "The population is now down to less than 2 mill- *Static --- Noise* "This is the Emergency Broad--" Silence seemed to follow. All systems were cut off just like all food supplies and signs of sanity in the world. What was to come was something that no one was prepared for. --- The story is NOT written in the format above.

The PR release says, "We have this under control," then follows the statement with vaguely scientific-sounding words. No one really buys it. That proves to be a wise decision. Never trust the official statement about something that is far too suspiciously bloody to be simply "under control". When all hell breaks loose, an ex-military war veteran and her soft-spoken bank employee not-really-boyfriend are forced to survive on their own. This is the story the world will neither hear nor tell. This is their story.
