From a parallel world, the Valnr laid siege upon Earth seeking to claim the life force of every living creature. By the intervention of the Altr gods, select humans were empowered to stem their tide. Thus, the Corps of Scions came to be.

Over the course of a thousand years, the Corps has stood against their foe, locked away in the frozen Northern Reaches. They've tasted a costly victory, saw the Valnr's resurgence and remain, to this day, locked in a battle of attrition.

Young conscripts are forced out of their lives to join the ranks of the Scions. Who they were, what dreams they had matters not - they must face ahead and learn to endure the responsibility placed upon them.

For if the Corps' vigil falls, the gods themselves shall weep over the massacre that follows.

The world is dying. Heaven and Hell have broken and collapsed, creating a post-apocalyptic landscape that is part purgatory, part platonic world of ideas, blighted by the horrors of the human mind. The sun lies dormant in the east, atop God's tower, while the west is plunged into darkness and haunted by all that lives there. There is no day and night cycle, nothing grows, nothing dies, nothing changes, unless magic is involved. Angels hunt creatures for their blood, to feed it to God so he can finish gestating. Demons kill and destroy aimlessly, their origins inexplicable and unknown. Stranger beings wander the ruins of what's left of the world. Humans need not eat or sleep, caught in a state between life and death. They cannot die or be born naturally, but they can be killed and they can be made. The few that survived with their sanity somewhat intact have locked themselves into warded cities, but their protections are feeble and often ineffective. The Order that united them is long gone, broken into factions known only by the sins for which they have fallen. The Houses that protected them are crumbling, falling into ruin as their members were culled down by angels and demons, as well as their own mad quest to save the world; the Pilgrimage, a vain attempt to steal into Eden and murder God himself. Soon, only the Scions will remain. Those that were left not due to merit, but because they were the last choice for being heroes. Those whose memories and minds are as damaged and eaten through as their world. Those who agreed to take on the mysterious Archons within their bodies and, through that contract, had ancient relics and rituals passed down to them. They converge onto a long forgotten neutral ground, trying to save themselves. A heroic journey through a nightmarish wonderland. A pilgrimage to God's tower, to make the world whole again. To cleanse the world of the horrors infecting it. To kill the God who will doom them all with his birth.

So I'm deep in the Sanders Sides fandom probably to an obsessive level and I've decided to take a shot at writing a popular story. The Descendants AU. Though rather than the Dark Sides being the Isle kids, though Virgil will still be the secretly good son of Maleficent, it'll be the Light Sides. Let's see what kind of story that turns out to be. Virgilant Flare had one purpose. Survive. To do that he twisted and warped into the most cruel, ruthless villain the godforsaken rock of the Isle had ever seen since his Mother; Maleficent. He had two minions(read: friends) at age 16 who he'd gladly kill for if they would just allow it. His friends were good, they deserved Auradon, no reason they couldn't make it their land though. Roman, son of Jafar, was not a street rat. He shines bright, he's brilliant, a royal among peasants. As father said their family deserved the world and more, to be kings with the world at their feet. It was such a nice image. The kind of grace and poise that was worth a man of honor, not a nimble, hapless thief. Perhaps Auradon would be the place to do so. Look out royals here comes King Roman. Us against the world. Those four words gave Patton hope. Let him know that even if Mother's love was out of his reach there was still someone to give to and see happy. His friends always worried about the lack of abandon in him. Baked sweets and smiles were well and good but otherwise he was just a mound of fat taking up space and taking advantage. Auradon would be a new start, the chance to finally be safe and just be friends. Now if only fairy tales were that simple. Twenty long years have gone by; good and evil aren't so distinct anymore as dark forces begin to stir in three friends' dreams. Trigger Warnings: Manipulation, physical and mental abuse, negative relationship with food, unhealthy body image, mentions of neglect and poverty, violence, anxiety, implied violence, implied poisoning, near poisoning, implied toxic friends, and RemRom.

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Warning: Contains sex, some violence, occasional foul language, and adult issues. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon.
