For Epidemiologist Dr. Karen Stevens, death and diseases are nothing new. As a new "superbug" emerges that no antibiotic seems to be able to help she becomes scared. The mutated bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB2) tears through the world, and finally the United States. Patients die before health services are able to realize what is actually happening. In Manchester New Hampshire 38 year old street smart-turned Emergency Room Paramedic Charlie Campbell treats his usual assault patients and gets caught up in the frenzy of the outbreak as MDR-TB2 begins to burn everything it touches, including the patients he is caring for.
