Andrea Galvan and her brother Brian, both too poor to afford a plane ticket, drive across the country to visit their mother, diagnosed with cancer, in Virginia. They pass through the eerie town of Blue Heron, Kentucky, notorious for its numeral suicides committed in the forest, just beyond the train tracks. Andrea and Brian soon learn the fiery, untold truth about the Blue Heron deaths, and the gory, inhumane "sacrificing's".
