As Jessica struggles with the hardships of being bullied, teenage angst, and controlling parents, she takes refuge inside her favorite online role playing game, Battle for New Earth. Meanwhile inside the game, Erica, a phoenix of considerable power and status, fights for peace for her race in the midst of civil war. However deep down, Erica longs for a chance at the freedom to realize her own desires. When Jessica suddenly wins a contest allowing her to directly become Erica, the lines between reality and virtual reality become twisted together. Jessica soon loses all sense of self identity, and conspiracies and danger abound before bringing her to a life changing encounter.

High school gaming club. It's not exactly everyone's idea of fun. Only eighteen students are in this club at Elijah High School. Some of them joined willingly and others were dragged along by their friends, but one thing is certain: none of them were expecting Immerse. Aaron Irisin is an Ivy League wannabe with the brains and athletics to qualify him, but constant distractions prevent his academic prowess from showing itself. His secrets provide a formidable foe, especially his drug addiction, which could jeopardize any chance at a scholarship, yet addiction is not his biggest distraction.
