"Hey," Rydel said, walking into the room. I shifted in my hospital bed. I still wasn't comfortable in the situation I was in, just recently learning I lost my whole life in the blink of an eye. She sat on the chair that was next to the bed. "I know this is really confusing for you and you want to be alone, but can I just have five minutes?" she pleaded. I nodded, timidly. Rydel smiled gently and pulled out her phone. "I want you to listen to this song," she said, "Hopefully, it could jumpstart your memory." The music started to play.
"Today I feel like running naked through your street to get your attention. Woah oh oh...."

"Okay, where do you want me to start?" "Anywhere you wish." "There were five of us. Dani, Elizabeth, Audrey, Taylor and me. We spent about 9 months in the basement. The walls where cement. The floor was cement. We each had our own chairs. Dani had her baby blue chair with white roses in the upper right corner. Elizabeth had her pale pink chair with white daiseys in the lower right corner. Audrey had her yellow chair with white roses in the upper left corner. Taylor had her black chair with red roses in the lower left corner. I had a white chair with sunflowers that sat in the center, the very center of the room. Each of us had a light above our heads. There were no covers in the lights just the wires losely hanging with the light attached at the end. The front legs of all our chairs had buckles that when we sat down they were right where our ankles were like he knew just were to put them. There were buckles on our arm rests that when we laid are arms on them the buckels our wrist were in the perfect spot. I think its funny how we all never made the conecction." "What conecction would that be?" "That we all have brown hair, blue eyes, were 5'5, all weighed 130. That when you put the first letter of each of our names together it spells Death. I love how at one point we all thought something, right before we were taken. Dani thought she was going to get mail. Elizabeth thought she was picking up dinner. I sit down on my bike looking around the school parking lot. Listening to music, I stand up begin to walk through the student-less parking lot. Honestly, it's not like I meant to be late. I look at all the men in the group who had their jaws dropped, all except for one, "Touch me one more time, and I'll brake your arm in two." I stand and kick his back so he falls on the concert. "Anyone else?" they stare at me blankly. "Didn't think so." When fuck boy tries to get up, I take my foot and slam him back down. Looking back at the boys, I say, "Later boys." PROLOGUE A small boy lies curled up in his bed, trying to hide himself. The screams and shouts of his parents echoed throughout the empty, cold house. A small toddler girl, snuggled in his arms, fusses in her sleep. A loud crash, followed by a cry of pain, makes the boy flinch and tear up. He pulls the baby girl close and covers his ears. 'Dad is hurting mom again' The boy cries softly, so as not to be heard, weeping at the unfairness of the world. Hours later, his bedroom door opens, and a soft hand touches his cheek. "Ian, my baby boy, I've got to go for a while, ok?" A woman's voice calls softly. The boy sits up, wiping his tears. "How long will you be gone?" The boy sniffles. "Mom is going to live with Uncle Sam for a while, just so she can make dad's company bigger. Make sure you take good care of Naomi. Don't forget to clean up after yourself, and get good grades in school." The boy's mother ruffles his hair and kisses him on the cheek. "I love you buddy. I'll be back in a few years. I know that sounds like a long time but, I'll be back before you know it. I just have to make dad happy." The boy nods, refusing to cry. 'I have to protect Naomi. I'm alone now.' the boy thinks to himself, determined. His mother stands up and walks away, her feet softly padding down the hallway.Complete

The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" I ask, swinging my feel a little. He shakes his head shyly, his mouth not moving at all. Geez! Why do I want to hear this dude talk so much? "Okay, that's fine. I can give you a nickname." He shakes his head immediately, frowning. "What, why not? You remind me of my old teddy bear. He was a good listener and he didn't talk much..... just like you." I say softly, tilting my head. He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" He sighs, the first sound I have ever heard him make. "No." . . . *Jordan* Teddy!? Seriously!? She gave me a fucking NICKNAME!? What the hell does this girl want!? I stood on the edge of the rooftop. My eyes closed and my mind free. I'm ready. Now is the time. I could feel my breath quickening, Breathe in, Breathe out. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it.
