SEQUEL TO THE SPILL OVER

#56 in Teen Fiction as of 2.6.2016

It was coffee that caused them to have their very first conversation. It was their craving for coffee at eleven pm that caused them to bump heads again, literally, a few years down the line.

Things didn't exactly go as predicted not once, but twice, in their past with each other. Two people who were 'meant to be' didn't exactly 'last forever' the way everybody thought they would.

As they say, 'feelings vanish over time' and 'time changes everything'. Will these two sayings hold true for Ashley and Zac too?

But it's when she meets Kai Hayes, the school's football captain, that the complexities of love, friendship, and family come crashing down on her. His piercing gaze sees through Marilyn's walls and into her soul, and for the first time, she feels truly seen and that terrifies her. As they talk, the clatter of cups and plates fades into the background, and Marilyn's heart beats faster with each passing moment. However, when Marilyn unexpectedly gets caught up in a lie, she must choose between her own desires and protecting the people she cares about or risk it all based on a lie. The weight of the decision bears down on her like a ton of bricks, and she feels like she's drowning in a sea of uncertainty. As she struggles to find her place in the world, Marilyn realizes that the path to self-discovery is not an easy one. She must confront her past and overcome her fears to truly find herself. First Comes Marriage (Completed & Editing)

13 parts Complete

“I think that most marriages start with love, but that isn’t what holds it together. You know that old saying, “First comes love, then come marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage?” I think that is what happens. People fall in love so they get married. Once they are married, the marriage and the things like a house and children are what keep it together.” Mel and Jake have never had a normal relationship. She doesn't believe in love and he is in love with her. They reversed the rhyme and started with, "First comes marriage." This leads to drama and the need for a counselor that can fix them. Sitting down, and giving their own perspectives on the relationship, Mel and Jake are forced to confront things they have tried to avoid. Love then marriage, or marriage and then love? Does it matter which comes first?
