A baby was sentenced off to death because the mother was accused of adultery. This wasn't an ordinary family that would send a child to death for unclean blood; this was the Queen and King's child.  The king told one of his trusted guards to kill the infant in the night. When the guard had taken the baby he could not kill the innocent. He took the child into a human world through a portal a few cities over.

He was to come back when the child became of the age of 19. 

However,  when the time came he did not come for him. Not because he simply forgot, but because he sent his daughter instead. His daughter was sent to show him his destiny.
