Years after a nuclear disaster, the world is a dying wasteland. The sky is permanently covered in thick, gray clouds, blocking sunlight and plunging the land into an endless dusk. Radiation has twisted both nature and humanity, creating monstrous mutants that roam the ruins. Survivors exist in fractured factions, scavenging for dwindling resources and fighting to hold onto what little remains. Among these survivors is Phillip Harper, a former paramedic turned reluctant leader, trying to keep his small group alive. When a young girl in their camp falls deathly ill from radiation poisoning, Phil makes the desperate decision to seek out a rumored bunker said to contain pre-war medicine and supplies. Starvation, fog, mine collapse were only a few of the things her people faced every day. When Grant came into the mines, he brought with him something Zdana had been seeking. A clue they may lead to all of their freedom. All they had to do, was keep it hidden from the city watch, and the Council.

When Esme was born, her parents had her no matter how forbidden it was, because of their job with the government. Their immense love made them to run and they were chased down, and killed when Esme was only weeks old. When she was left alone in the cold world, she was taken and was put under for government research purposes. After years she finally escaped through an accident and slowly got her revenge.
