"Working at a sugar store is a blessing in disguise."

That's what my friend Jenni told me. She then proceeded to tell me that I could have all of the free treats that I wanted and get a peak into people's personal lives, and she was right.

People would come in and out. Some with their kids, some with their significant others.

Girls and boys would walk in with tears just wanting a little bit of sugar-- which then leaded to two or three full boxes. I never judged.

The store would always be craziest on Valentine's Day.

And then every once and a while, Avery Harrison will waltz in his drunken glory and spill his sorrows to the girl behind the counter and I'd have to swear not to tell.

Blessing in disguise? I'd beg to differ on that one.
