In 2022, the world is perfect. Half the world has little red buttons in their hands, and if they ask for something, it will appear. The other half of the world controls the Compartments, the little red buttons. Most people ask for their hair brush, or a knife to cut their food. But all that Ashley Spencer and the Compartment side of the world will be asking for soon, is a gun. 
Asha Bentonfeilds is Ashley's Controller. She makes Ashley's specific Compartment work. But, one day, Asha gets killed, and Ashley's Compartment suddenly stops working. Ashley has lived almost four years with her Compartment, and she doesn't know what to do. 
Three days after Asha's death, everyone on the Control side of the world starts dying off. Is the world coming to an end? No, but someone hates the Compartment system. Enough to kill half of the world.
