Sisters Kameron and Ally Rose have had it rough. Between struggling with a disabled sister, an abusive alcoholic mother, and teachers that are out to get her, Kameron's got a lot on her plate. At only seventeen, she is expected to be the adult of her household. Juggling a job, school, and raising a young girl doesn't leave much room for fun or childhood. So will this new boy, Eric, really accomplish his mission of showing her a life different than that of her present one? She's never been very interested in boys... or really people in general. Her only focus has always been getting a scholarship and taking care of Allie. There's no room on her agenda for friends and especially no room for boys.

Except for one, a boy, he is the one who doesn't care about Angela's blindness or depression, he is the one she trusts. Slowly but surely a relationship forms between the two, but the relationship leads to dark times and simply makes the crucial decision Angela has been trying to make for years since her mum's death, to live or to die, harder.
