It's been good over evil since people began to walk the earth. It's been the heroes defeating the villains since the dawn of mankind. Even so, this time they think they've got it.
It started with the day codenamed the Cataclysm. They had a pattern to everything they did: a villain would cause chaos, a hero would come, they would fight, somehow the villain would come out on top, and the villain would take the hero away in a cloud of dust. The heroes are gone now: all of the Justice League, each of the Titans, every lone wolf hero.
I am the exception.

Tony Stark's daughter is lost in Gotham with no way of getting home and a certain Batfamily trying to adopt her. This was bad. Her thoughts were hard to make out with the pain in her head. The last thing she remembered clearly was the stage and then Harley and Peter trying to grab for her. Something had to happen in between then and now, that led her to being dropped on a rooftop. She padded her pockets down and cursed when she realized she didn't have her phone. Any chance of using the emergency credit card she kept slipped inside the case was lost with it. Only her Stark Watch remained, though severely cracked. When she touched its screen, nothing happened. She'd need to find another way to get in touch with her family. Before, when the world spun full circle and people cared about binging shows and listening to their favorite diss tracks from beefing rap stars, the thought of the end of the world was a figurative rumination that was always there but stuck in one's back of mind. How vastly naive that thinking was. The world did end.
