Anakin Skywalker had no intentions whatsoever to become the way he is. No intention to do what he did. Yet somehow he found himself in the position he most feared, a feeling he never wanted to experience in his lifetime. The feeling of hopelessness. A sensation of drowning in himself with no escape. This was his reality. Blood, cuts, death, all these things overtook his mind and he wanted nothing more than to be released of everything. Of all the war, all the fighting, all the pain, all the hate, all the suffering. Everything. This story takes place during The Clone Wars, after the pair attempt to save Obi-Wan on the planet Mustafar and the war has begun, but before their wedding. Beyond anyone's control, Reina grew to resent the man who gave her a new meaning in life. Her hatred for him entangled with Vader's own for her, the two of them craving nothing more than to feel the other's blood on their hands. Despite this hatred, an unexpected twist of desire arose between the two. The fear of love that had been buried deep within their own seething hatred eventually began to expose itself. Will Vader allow himself to continue holding onto the past, allow the fear of potentially losing somebody else continue to push her away? Or will he give in and protect her in ways he was unable to with Padmé. This story will be as close to canon as I can possibly make it, and Vader will still have to rely on his suit to breathe.
