A long time ago, there was a race of people very different from the others. They appeared human on the outside, but they were far from it. For one thing, they could only be killed by natural causes, and although they could feel pain and be injured, on one knew how to actually kill one. The only ones that died were from old age or some type of deadly disease, like cancer. Another thing that made them different was the fact that they could change their features into not-so-human, growing claws or wings or tails, they could even change their head to look like an animal, or just their teeth or eyes.
The most disturbing thing to the rest of the human race was that unless they transformed their features, there was no way to tell if they were this ‘dangerous’ race of people. The clans of these people have since disbanded, melting into the shadows, disappearing without a trace, this is where our story begins…
(This story is being reviewed and will eventually be edited/properly rewritten. If you like the plot, but can't handle the bad writing, there will be notification when I finally get off my butt and fix it up.)

Escaping the Monster's Embrace (OLD BEING REWRITTEN )
(Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. I'm your typical person; I have a wife and two kids, a dog, a cat, and live in a house in a small community in BC. I was raised on the Prairies and understand the value of hard work. I have studied business, economics, commodity trading, carpentry, and other functions within our society, all which have led me to write this story, the story of a burning son. So what is The Burning Son all about? It's a quest to change the way we perceive our global society, and an effort to change the way we look at our history and our future. Our society has operated efficiently and progressively for centuries. Everything started in 2036. The pollution was so bad that the end of the world was predicted to be right around the corner. As complete panic set in around the world, the rich and important people were all gathered and placed on giant spaceships with enough resources and room to house generations of human beings. Before they left though, the government leaders fired As a result, most of the human population died off and earth was a complete wasteland. The little that survived started building local communities and trying to survive in the destroyed excuse of a planet. On the disaster of a planet, creatures mutated and were born out of the nuclear chemicals; creating new species and monsters that hunted humans. While hundreds and hundreds of years passed, the monsters kept evolving and the people kept adapting while still trying to keep a sort of community. They didn't want to lose all of their humanity and become nothing more than animals that hunted the monsters: then they would truly be no better than the monsters themselves. The earth is almost completely desolate, as people trick and murder each other to get what they want. The only thing left that gives a semblance of dreams is: a power that gives control over earth to anyone who touches the item.
