Celeste is a 17 year old girl who lives in Ashland, Virginia with her overprotective parents. While traveling on vacation to stay with her aunt Gwen in Augusta, Georgia something tragic happens to her parents that will never be forgotten. She is forced to move to Palm Springs, California to stay with her grandparents which means, she has to change things around. She realizes something that she would no longer be capable of living with. She has to start a new life and make new friends, leaving everything else back home.

Come to think of the situation that her life is in, she starts to like the California weather better than in Virginia.  She decides to get a job at a local coffee shop trying to make enough money to help her grandparents. While there she meets a young boy about her age who helps her regain her confidence as the new girl and helps her get through the tough time she's been suffering with.
