Blue Emelia Woods has lived on the Ark her whole life. A combined space station made up from the surviving nations that have lived for 97 years while the Earth is soaked in radiation from the nuclear war. The Ark has made rules because of the harsh conditions of living in space.
You may only have one child.
Never harm another citizen.
Never harm a guard.
Never plot against the Counsil.
Never steal from the Ark's supplies.
However, all of these rules have been broken.
Breaking the rules when you are over 18 results in immediate execution, or 'floating'. If you were lucky enough to be under 18, you get a trial on your birthday to decide if you will die or be returned with your fellow citizens.
Everything has changed now.
Based on the book and t.v. show 'The 100.' I don't own they characters (except Blue) and the plot is mainly from the show.

Lauren is sent to Earth scared of what is to come but also grateful to be off the Ark and seeing something she has imagined her whole life. Living on the Ark made her emotions weak and crack which caused her to put on a tough image to withstand her fragile mindset. Can someone on earth make her happy, less scared, and graceful again ? On the Ark, having a second child is illegal. Which can result in the parents of the second child getting floated, and the second child being locked up until they were old enough to get floated too, leaving the first born without a family. At least, unless you were one of the privilaged. Abigail Griffin knew the rules, so she wasn't entirely pleased when she found out she was pregnant with a second child. Her first born, Clarke, wasn't even a year old. When she and her husband confessed to the Chancellor, a close friend at the time, he gave them a choice. Basically, it was either kill the unborn child, or let her live her life with her family until she turned twelve. Once she turned twelve, into the skybox it is.
