What do you do if you look different? You hide it. What do you do if you feel different? You keep your mouth shut. What do you do if you are different? You try to hide that too, really try. But you fail. Then what? *** "Really?! Are you stupid?!" They splutter, sniggering. "You're really going to do that?" You nod slowly and they burst into hysterically laughter, rolling around on their backs, laughing at the idea of you walking out. They think you're stupid. "I had no choice." You say gravely, your face straight. They stop. They just stop laughing. They stop rolling around. They just stop and they stare at you. And you grab the bag off the table, stand up, and leave.

Different- 1) Not the same as another, or each other; Unlike in nature, form or quality. I thought being different was a good thing. You know, the whole 'Im not conforming to you' deal. I thought I was unique, my own person. Apparently not everyone thinks being different is a good thing. They're afraid of my difference. Maybe it's my long white hair? Or my glowing silver eyes? Or it could just be because.... I'm not fully human. I tried to keep it a secret. Really I did. I knew the consequence of something like this getting out. So my secret stayed a secret. All until the day the little girl walked out in front of the truck.
