The Harshlings

Somewhere in the future, a war has broken out over the earth. Call it world war V if you wish. The human race is split up into four groups, the Malum, the Johda, the Plevra, and the Vale, each group at war with each other. But, the world is also split into two different species, the humans, and the Harshlings. Harshlings were created in this world from a science experiment gone wrong, changing part of the human DNA to have a strange power. The problem is, that you won't know you are a Harshling, until your powers show themselves, which can happen at any time or age. Now each group is made up of each species, with the Harshlings being by far more desirable, so when they are discovered, they are quickly forced into the war, whether they want to fight or not.

Now Autumn wasn't very concerned with the war going on outside, she was preoccupied with the war going on inside her home. Her father was a crazy alcoholic, drug addict, and abuser toward his children. Autumn spent her life protecting herself and her younger siblings. But when she finds out at 14 that she can summon fire at will, her father gets her taken away. Being put into the Vale, she is given promises to never be left behind, and to be treated like someone special. Autumn is finally happy.

Grace was raised in a wealthy and respected family, but with overbearing parents that acted like less like parents, and more like Nazis. So when at the age of 14 Grace finds she can create snow and ice out of nothing, she is quickly shunned from her family, and put into the vale, where they promise her that she shall be loved for who she is, and who she will be. She finally has found her place in life.

Now these two opposite girls have been forced into a partnership, having the responsibility of each other and their team. But as they get closer and closer to the war, they realize that the vale may not be who they say they are. They must learn to work together, to help end the war, and save the world.
