When Dan moves from his old home in London because of bullying, he finds himself in Manchester, at a brand new high school. Dan notices a boy with a black fringe who catches his eye, feeling an urge that he needs to know more about this mysterious boy, his name being Phil Lester. When Phil stands up for Dan on the first day of school, Dan slowly begins to fall in love with him, not even realising it at first.
