The Time of Sparks,

Set in a universe stuck in the early 50's and yet has modern technology. High school senior Owen Mitchell is over his divided mess of a town Damesbury, South Carolina. On the Eastside where he resided, the whites lived lavishly. In the West, on the other side of the railroad tracks that split the two areas, inhabited the colored folk where he was always told to stay away. Still, with many secrets to hide and a box of bones in their closets, no one could be easily trusted
When Owen's life unexpectedly shifted, coming to the rescue is prodigy athlete, Donovan Lewis. Thus, begins the tale of Owen and Donovan: two teenage boys who find themselves romantically attracted to each other amid racial wars, growing tensions, school drama, family dynamics, and religion. 

As they fight through the woes, combating the fear of being murdered and their romance being discovered, the two learn to find themselves and accept and befriend those they would have never thought otherwise.

In the end, they and the people closest to them discover the true meaning of life, find their beliefs, and the depth of humanity.
